Slava Semeniuta
In this task i took inspiration from Slava Semeniuta, The russian born photographer noticed the glimmering refelctive beauty of the streets in sochi russia. He takes photos of the neon lights reflected in puddles and potholes.
My Response
In this task i took photos of light passing through coloured plastic reflecting into very shallow water pools and drpolets on a plastic bag.

WWW: The subject i chose to photograph suited the theme as the light that was reflected through the cloloured plastic onto the water was similar to the neon lights reflecting in to puddles of water.I managed my shutter speed relativley well as all the images had no camer shake.
EBI:To improve i should expose the photo a bit more to make them brighter, however for the edited photos i changed the brightness, therefor it was not an issue.

Half term homework three strands
Strand 1: Nadav Kander response
The Thames Estuary by Nadav Kander
He captures the colour and movement of the water focusing on exposure and shutter speed. I lkke how he captures the different patterns and forms the waves create.
When alone, there is nowhere I'd rather be than beside large bodies of slow moving water. I feel myself, quiet and alive as emotions come and go. Travelling to the estuary in the dark, often alone, and returning home at nightfall has affected how I see this place - not as a geographical landscape, but as a mystical space, somehow otherworldly and full of intrigue.

My Response
I went to the river thames in central London, i took inspiration from nadav kander by trying to capture the movement of the water and focus on the colours created by the water. However there was not much movement in the water so to overcome this challenge i will go to the sea where this is more movement and bigger waves.
WWW:The subject i chose to photograph suited the theme as the movement and colour of the water is similar to nadav kander's photos who i took inspiration from, furthermore the edits add to the bleak sense of calmness and almost serenity within the pictures. I Managed the shutter speed well as it was a bright day, therefor i had to manage the balancing of the exposure but also my subject was constantly in motion leading it to be a quick shutter speed. My images expressed my intentions which were to create a image that had a similar feeling and essence to those taken by nadav kander in the thames estuary, to achieve this i tried to focus on capturing the peacefulness it brings and these quite moments even within a busy urban setting in central London.
EBI:To improve on these i should try and create movement within the water by adjusting the shutter speed, i should also do some edits in colour to capture the images in a more raw natural way to further the idea of serentiy. To do this i will go to different parts of the thames river at different times in varying weather conditions and other locations.

Strand 2:Andrea B Stone response
Refletions in windows are photos by. in her photos We think we know what we are looking at, only to realize that we are seeing something startling and new. Buildings seem to brighten and awaken, forging delicate and surprising relationships with the cityscapes around them. Urban spectacles gradually unfold, suggesting magical patterns and connections.
Using Tone's idea i took photos of glass buildings with reflections of different buildings and architecture within a urban area
I wasn't able to capture the distortion that Stone does in her work. In the image below, I used textured glass in front of my computer screen to create more distortion.
WWW:The subject i choose to photograph suited the theme as the glass buildings reflected the buildings and sky very well.I managed the exposure well as it was a very bright day and there was quite a lot of glare reflected into the camera. My images expressed my intentions which were to capture relectoins of a urban area in glass
EBI:try to find buildings with more distroted glass to creat a better effect and use a triopd for better balance of the camera so ican foucs on shutter speed.

Strand 3: Ubeda Hervas response
Shadows by ubeda hervas
PoL Ubeda Hervas using photos to express his feelings. He said he doesn't recognise him self anymore and he expresses his feelings in photo form. He keeps the shadow in the photo but he erases the body, because he still doesn't know him self. This is shown by placing objects in the place of shadows, showing that he doesn't really feel there, and recognise himself.

EBI: my images were clear and in foucs and well captured the hand reflected well and editing them black and white suited the them very well
WWW: The subject I chose to photograph did not necessarily fit the brief as lots of the photo sthe lightig was not dark enough as i did not have the right ligting.I also needed to edit them in photoshop to show my full itentions.

First development nadav kander
My favorite strand was Nadav Kander’s Thames estuary photos, as he has a lot of freedom while taking them. I think that this project would give me lots of creative freedom and lots of development and areas to expand on. For my first development i took photos of the river thames and tried to photograph the texture and movement of the water through the waves. However it was not particularly wavy on the thames so i tried to photograph the turbulence in the water generated by the boats, i think it was effective to an extent however, would be better if i can take pictures of the coast to photograph actual waves.
WWW: Iedited my best photos black white as I felt it made the images more peaceful and calm, especially in the busy London river.
My intention was to respond to nadav kander becuase i like the idea of these quite moments within a busy urban area where you can capture moments of calm and peacfullness. i managed the shutter speed well to capture the calm of the river as this would have been ruined if the image was too blurry.
EBI: To improve is hould go to a water body with more waves and dsitubance on the surface to capture images more similar to nadav kander's
Next time i will go to the coast to capture more photos of water but this time hpefully there will be more waves and movment of the water and experminet with different shutter speed for different levelos of exposure and blur.

Development 2
Development 2- Koo Boochang
For my second development I took inspiration from koo boochang taking photos of very calm still water , then turning it black and white as boochamg did . focusing on shutter speed for a crisp focused image.Going to ally pally duck pond to photograph the very still clear dark water. These photos expressed my intentions which were to photograph the reflections and peacefulness of the water. -Boochang creates a cold harsh image by the calming stillness he does this with clear dark water going to oceans and rivers focusing on the stillness of the water.
WWW:The subject i chose to photograph suited the theme as the lighting was extremely good for the theme as the dark water created an Ernie sense. i also did an edit of the canada goose in the water as i think t contrasts with the water well. i managed the shutter speed well as it was very over cast day so to make sure the image was not over exposed i had to be very careful when taking the photos. With the edit I changed a lot of the settings including contrast exposure, different shades of black and white and the levels ti fully create the image.
EBI: to improve the set of photos i could take more photos at at range of zoom for a variation within the set and development.
Next i will be taking more photos inspired by nadav kander but the coast hoping to capture photos the waves and the overwhelming effect they can have on the viewer.

Development 3
For my third development i took inspiration again from Nadav Kander going to the south coast and take pictures of the waves, the weather on the day i went was good and bad as while it was quite stormy created a dramtic effect, however it was raining whivh made it very difficult got the correct focus, and was extremly overcast so very difficult to capture the correct balance of shutter speed.
series of three
WWW: my edits are the correct exposure and have a very dramatic effect which matches my intentions.to further express my intetnions of creeating images similar to nadav kanders i edited in sets of three, take a 3 images of one wave and splitiing it into 3 images to photograph it as it crashed dwon onto the beach.
EBI: use a tripoid to keep the images level and as focused as possible, also use a lense with more zoom to focuse more on the waves.

Develpoment 4
In this set of photos i took photographed dolphins of the coast of cornwall on a boat trip. This task linked to theme as the dolphins created a good splashing effect as the dolphins broke the surface and because of how close up with the subject i was i was able to capture all of the details of the water being changed and moved by the dolphins.

Cyanotype
Cyanotypes are one of the oldest methods of photography printing in the history of photography. The distinctive feature of the print is its shade of cyan blue, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light.
I wanted to use this technique as the cyan blue helps capture and emphasise the colour and essence of the water.
To do this i printed the image onto the clear acetate paper, then using the ultra violet light of the sun to print it on to the cyanotype paper and i experimented with different exposure in different light levels . Then running cyanotype paper under water to reveal the image.
WWW:The subject i chose to photograph suited theme as it the bright clear colours fully showed the reflections and movement pf the water created by the dolphins.Shutter speed was extremely important here as the levels of brightness were extremely high so to make sure i did not under or over expose the images i had to manage this.In addition the dolphins were coming up and down very quickly so i had to take them very quickly . My images expressed my intentions which were to capture the way the dolphins move the water and some of the colours and shapes the water forms.
EBI: To improve this set of images i could have included some images with more of a depth of field.

Development 5-Woodberry down
In this task i was required to take photographs of woodberrry down reservoir which is a wildlife reserve within the busy city of London showing the contrast of the nature and the high rise buildings surrounding the abundance of water and animals. My intention was to explore to the issue of urban and nature environments, and these small pockets of wildlife in a cityscape.

WWW: The i chose to photograph suited the theme as the different bodies of water represent different reflection and different moments of the water. Showing a wide range of reflections.I managed the aperture lot for the mini water fall to create the blur and depth of field as the water was very fast flowing. The image of the reflections close up show my intentions to capture the reflection of the water.
EBI:For the photo of the mini water fall it was very hard to manage the exposure as the direction of the light was problematic and that it was blocked from my view from the plant. So to improve i should have photographed from another angle.

Final project cyanotype
Why is this the chosen media?
i chose to do this as i enjoyed how the blue cyan colour elevated the blue colour and further showed the effects of the colours of the ocean. In this task i did lots of development of experimenting with different exposure to uv light for the cyanotype paper. With the over cast day that i did this on i had to expose each photo onto the cyanotype paper for 10 minutes. My first images show the experimentation and the different colours that are created depending on uv light levels.
